Yesterday, I reported that our small town had apparently suffered 2 inches of rain in 2 hours. Actually, that was a misreport, due to the fact that I saw an enormously heavy downpour out of the window, heard reports on the BBC of the aforesaid 2" 'south of Cambridge', and jumped to conclusions.
Apparently, in Royston itself, it was measured at 5 inches.
At that rate, this place will suddenly develop the streams, rivers and lakes that it has to date lacked.
(Edit: Or 3 inches. We'll probably never know exactly. Shops were flooded, roads temporarily impassible.)
