Or rather, one of her portraits was.

I just noted that my great aunt was responsible for translating some of the works of Colette into English.

(Rather appropriately, she also 'lived in sin' for decades. I met her only once, when she was already in her seventies.)

It's interesting to compare with one of the photographs of her in the National Gallery from later.

It would be interesting to know just how many different artists she did actually pose for, though I suspect the artist she sat for most was Edmund Dulac.

Oh, wow. Something in her reminds me of Josefina de Vasconcellos - whom I met only once, when she was already in her nineties and living in retirement in a Cheshire Home. Shortly after that she ran away with a lover half her age...
