In among all the new today (Coulson called in the Sheridan trial re phone tapping, Parliament voting for fee rises) is one piece of good news.

There will be more trains seats on our line.

There'll be 12-coach trains calling at Royston on the CB/KX line.

(Will this slow fare rises? Will it bu**ery.)

Yup, and the changes to my commute are exactly... zero.

Meldreth still having only 4-coach platforms, and me doing the inverse commute (against the big flows into/out of London).

Fine by me, so far I've always found a seat.

Against the flow is always easier - when driving London to Royston or Melbourn every day, I used to marvel at the traffic queues almost every day in the opposite direction.

For the slow trains to the little stations, it's going to be a problem. It wouldn't surprise me to find that some who would otherwise go from Meldreth come that extra couple of miles into Royston to pick up the fast train instead.
