I see that a certain motorway service station has won the 2009 British Academy of Gastronomes' Grand Prix.

Those who know anything about motorway food in this country might be surprised. On the other hand, those who have visited the place in question will not be surprised at all, as Tebay Service Station is vastly better than any other such establishment anywhere else on this island.

It also has a totally dangerous shop, being one of only two places I've ever encountered Stinking Bishop.

ETA: Dangerous to my wallet, that is.

Hmm...the Wikipedia page mentions Époisses de Bourgogne as another stinky cheese...I believe that's the cheese that I brought to our midsummer party this year. I was practically the only one to eat it. The host couple claimed that they could smell it through the fridge door the next day.

I wouldn't mind trying Stinky Bishop some time. :)

It's definitely interesting. I tend to love blue cheeses the most, and Stinking Bishop isn't a cheese I'd want every day, but as an occasional treat, it's rather fine.
