Subject: Spring has sprung

It may be only a week since snow was on the ground, but the flowers are springing up, the cherry tree is in blossom, and we saw a jay in our garden this morning, basking in the warmth.

(Actually, that's the first jay I've ever positively identified.)

Lovely things, jays, and very bright. We have a pair who like to steal our apples in the autumn.

I've always considered them as the coloured brethren of the magpie.

Now magpies are very common round here.
