Fasnacht and Eastercon booked

Well, I just got the hotel booking confirmations back.

For Fasnacht, we'll be at the Swissotel on Messeplatz (that's in Kleine Basel, on the German side of the river):

Arrival : 28 February 2004 Departure : 06 March 2004

I had tried for the SAS Radisson, but we couldn't get in this year. Never mind, Swissotel is a pretty comfortable chain, and the price was pretty close to the same. And it'll be convenient for the Guggi concerts. Also, we're going to be coming in and out of Badischer Bahnhof, and the Swissotel is closer to that, whereas the Radisson is close to the main station.

For Eastercon, we're in the Imperial:

Check in: 08-Apr-2004, Check out: 11-Apr-2004

I do love the Internet though - the Blackpool hotel is booked through an Australian company (the bunch I normally use, initially for the Radisson the first time) and the Basel one through a Thai company.

Ah, perhaps logic isn't his strong point?

The shooting death of a man in Lincoln is proof that cannabis is not a harmless drug, a coroner has told an inquest.

Perhaps the coroner in question didn't notice that the effects of alcohol - which he actually admits the shooter was suffering from - frequently include mindless violence. In fact, that people's usual urge to get the hell away from strange drunks is for their own preservation.

So, he is positing someone for whom

a) Alcohol didn't bring on violence, despite violence occurring, and that
b) The violence wouldn't have occurred if the person had been both sober and not on drugs, and therefore
c) The violence must have occurred due to the cannabis.

Geeze, give me strength. What is the guy on? It doesn't look like this planet.
