A certain Hertfordshire town now has two Halloween supplies shop.

A lass from one of the surrounding villages was complimenting her friend on her costume, complete with pointy hat and broomstick.

"But do tell me, where did you get it?"

"At the shop in town."

"Ware? Where? Which Ware witch wear shop?"

Boom! Boom!

California's outgoing Governor Gray Davis has said the wildfires, which have now been burning for nine days, may be the worst disaster in the state's history..

He has presumably forgotten the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

(And yes, that was some decades after California became a state.)
