This is a collection of stories by the author of the Forever War. Haldeman is mostly a novelist, but over his long career, he has written a few short stories, and this collection includes fifteen of them, from thirty six years of writing.
The problem with short story collections is often the variability. For example, China Miéville's collection was distinctly disappointing in parts. This, I'm happy to say, is not. Even the one I was worried about, the experimental Fantasy for Six Electrodes and One Adrenaline Drip, written for the infamous The Last Dangerous Visions, has a real, moving story behind its Feelie Script format.
Not one stinker in the set.
