Doctor Who is to have a new companion when the drama returns - but there will still be room for his current co-star.This does fit well with the end of series 3, where we saw Martha refusing to go off with the Doctor immediately, but very explicitly keeping an open communications channel, and promising that he'd not seen the last of her. I'd have been very surprised for her to leave entirely, but having a hiatus is another matter. I assume that the new companion will be coming aboard as part of the Xmas episode.
Actress Freema Agyeman is to play Martha Jones in three episodes of spin-off show Torchwood. She said it was a chance to "expand" her character.
She will miss the first half of the fourth series of Doctor Who, but will then return to the BBC One programme.
The new companion will be revealed soon and will appear in the entire 13-week run, which begins filming this month.
And in other news, it's raining hard.
Oh, I'm sorry, that's not news. The news is that it didn't rain here during daylight hours yesterday. As a result, we got the lawns cut, and I washed and polished the car.
