Continuing on from Moving Target, this is the third book in a continuing series. By the end of the last book, Ky Vatta has defeated a repugnant cousin who had taken to piracy, and who had attempted to board her ship. Claiming that ship as a prize, and as true property of the Vatta clan, may have been just, but it looks a little close to piracy for some governments and systems. And her Letter of Marque was a little too close to the edge for the Mercenary company she had associated with. But she's got to do something - the organisation to which her cousin had belonged has been conquering more systems, and nothing short of an interstellar navy is going to stop them.
The problem is, how is this going to play with cousin Stella, who ends up in Ky's old ship, following along after her seemingly unending trail of chaos?
Meanwhile, Aunt Grace, back on the still isolated Slotters Key, is taking vengeance.
This series is still well-written Space Opera, unabashed adventure being the primary object. It's a little slower, perhaps, but still a fine addition.
Here's to volume 4.
