The second of a series begun in Trading In Danger, this continues the story of Ky Vatta.

In the first book, as captain of a decrepit freighter heading to the scrap yard, she helped beat off an unprecedented pirate on the Sabine system. Here, at the start of the second book, other attacks are occurring throughout interstellar space. Most especially, attacks against the Vatta shipping line, and against the Vatta family wherever it is found. And with the ansible (instantaneous communication) network also being targetted, Ky can't even find out if any of her family are still alive.

But she's a tough cookie, and she starts looking to a way to rebuild the Vatta trading empire which, after all, had a good reputation and money in the bank, even if the head office got blown away. And she manages to find some other family members in the process.

Continuing an exciting series.
