George Mikes: How to Unite Nations

Hardcover: 160 pages
Publisher: Deutsch (1963)
ISBN-10: 0233956492
ISBN-13: 978-0233956497
Category(ies): Journalism/Humour

Another compilation of Mikes's columns. This time, the first set herein are inspired by the United Nations (hence the title), though those are only a minority. As always, he's witty and amusing, though much of the UN ones probably would be politically incorrect these days. However, as a historical document, reflecting attitudes to the raft of new nations all seemingly lining up on the side of the Warsaw Pact, even these are worth reading.

More Mikes columns, not as good as How to Be an Alien though.

Another Mikes fan! This was the first I read and perhaps therefore is my favourite. It seems to have dated less than the more famous ones.

The Switzerland one seemed to date hardly at all - but then, that's Switzerland for you.
