The latest of the Artemis Fowl adventures, it would probably be best to have read the previous volumes first.

Artemis Fowl, young genius, and his erstwhile antagonists and collaborators Holly Short (of Faery) and the earth-munching dwarf Mulch have pretty much come to a mutual understanding not to interfere in each other's worlds. But now, a new player has come onto the scene - a girl, much the same prepubescent age as Fowl, and with much the same abilities and resources. But she hasn't agreed to the unwritten rules.

And so, Fowl and Short and Mulch have to work to defeat her, before a swarm of bloodthirsty demons are released into our world, which would be extremely bad news, particularly for the demons.

This is another charming adventure. Perhaps it's not as fresh as its predecessors, but it's still inventive. If you've liked the previous Artemis Fowl books, then this won't disappoint.
