And when I get into work this morning, my PC won't stay running. After deciding it's probably an overheating problem, I check the motherboard, and indeed, one of the CPU fans is obviously not happy.

Down into town. Jazz Computer Supplies isn't open.

OK, Baldock is 10 miles away, there's a PC shop there that will do components, I'm pretty sure.

And it's also shut.

OK, Stevenage PC World is next closest option.

Out of stock.

Argh!

(Yes, it's now running, by scavenging a fan off a different heat sink from a different machine.)

I didn't realise your company was that small. I mean, don't you have people to do that kind of thing for you, or suppliers you use or something?

Well, a supplier would take time to get the item to us. Whereas popping a mile into town to get something would take no time at all.

And yes, I did check with our systems guy first to see if we had any spares in stock.
