That was, I think, the perfect end to the story. It was so good, I was crying at the end.

It's an ending like that that gives me hope for television drama as an artform.

DEATH of Coppers? I can live with that.

Didn't cry though; not as emotionally invested with Ashes to Ashes as I was with Life on Mars, I cried my eyes out for the last ten minutes of Life on Mars, and for about half an hour after.

It wasn't the emotional investment so much as the sheer perfection of the way the writers didn't cop out (sorry), and actually made the whole two sets of series make deep, dramatic, sense.

Mind you, I'm a deep sucker for redemption and loyalty as dramatic themes.

I agree - best handling of closure I've seen in TV drama in forever. And interesting device - to effectively shift progagonist role at the end of a drama?

great conceit to put GH in 'boatman' role.

was v moving.

Gobsmackingly good, and surprisingly few loose ends; and a few clever mythological references buried in there to boot. I'll be posting more about it tomorrow, once certain people on my flist have had the chance to watch it.

I really liked it - I LOVED that the writers didn't cop out. I look forward to more detailed analysis too - I was left with a few questions but over all??

YAY!!

Curiously I was so happy it was a good ending I was more cheery than teary.
